The North Dakota Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has provided updated guidance regarding the use of Choice Ready Grant funds. Originally, these funds were intended for new online high school learners. However, DPI has revised its guidelines, allowing the funds to cover any student enrolled at NDCDE.
In response, NDCDE is requesting that grant recipients apply their Choice Ready Grant funds to new enrollments between now and August 31, 2025. To ensure proper processing, please follow these steps:
- Submitting New Enrollments:
- You may purchase all eligible courses in a single order or across multiple orders.
- Do not mix Choice Ready-funded courses with courses purchased using district funds in the same order.
- In the "Comments or Special Instructions" field on the student registration screen, enter "Choice Ready". This will ensure NDCDE bills DPI for the course. (Click here to view detailed instructions)
- Requesting Retroactive Application of Funds (If Needed):
- If your district does not anticipate having enough new enrollments to use all of its grant funds before August 31, 2025, you may request that NDCDE apply the grant retroactively to enrollments from January 1, 2025, through today.
- To do this, please email Steve Ring (steve.ring@k12.nd.us) and do not pay your January or early February NDCDE invoices when you receive them.
- NDCDE will review the total amount of funding allocated to your district, submit your invoices to DPI for reimbursement up to that amount, and issue a refund accordingly. We will also notify you if any grant funds remain after this process.
Please note that processing any refunds due to your district may take one to two months. If you have any questions, please contact the NDCDE Business Manager, Steve Ring, steve.ring@k12.nd.us.
